As a young boy I used to watch F1 with my old man, every Sunday while we had our fry-ups. Beautiful memories. And while the old man watched, eyes squinting and studying the race, I would study him. Silent. Giant. Over there. I wondered if I would be like him, when inside I felt so different. The distance seemed vast, and I couldn’t find the racing line to get there. It took a long while to realise that I had my own race to drive and that he wasn’t another driver on the track. He was my pit crew. This novel is for those who go their own way, on their own terms.
